My career started in training & recruitment, marketing consultancy and internet start-ups in The Netherlands. In 2003 I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of the pre-opening team of a luxurious hotel in Cape Town. I didn’t hesitate to take on this 5 month project.

Once in Cape Town, I immediately felt at home, decided to stay and I honestly never looked back. I’ve been an entrepreneur ever since.

I built my life in South Africa around my passions which include: travel, connecting & empowering people, writing. My current projects include: a boutique travel company (www.extraordinary-travel.com) where I create travel itineraries and Associate with a global venue finding service (www.helmsbriscoe.com)  for conferences & meetings. I regularly freelance as a trainer for emerging entrepreneurs in Tourism.

In my role as InterNations Ambassador, I’m playing an active role in growing the Cape Town community (www.internations.org). Together with 2 other ambassadors we organize monthly events connecting guests from over 25 countries.

I’ve recently been asked to become Chairperson for South Africa for Global Exploration. GE facilitates student exchange programs since 2006. In 2012 they sent 325 Dutch high school kids to 10 different countries (Tanzania, Nepal, China, Indonesia, Peru, India, Thailand, South Africa etc.) to work TOGETHER with local kids towards the Millenium Development Goals. In 2014 we welcomed the first 3 schools to the greater Cape Town area.

On a personal level, I’m extremely excited to say that I’ve recently adopted a little girl. I welcomed little Rosie Grace into my life on the 5th of December 2012. The adoption screening process finished in January 2012 when I was approved. She’s is born on the 15th of August 2012 and her full name is Rosie Grace Nwabisa. Rosie, after my mom, Grace because I love this beautiful word, Nwabisa is her Xhosa name and means ‘the one who makes you smile’, and that’s exactly what everyone does when they meet her. She’s an angel baby.

One day I hope to marry my prince and complete our little ‘Modern Family’ but in the meantime I will just carry on with living my dream life.

On this blog I’d like to share my story as a curious entrepreneur, passionate traveler and single Mom-on-the-go.

With Love, Jessy Lipperts
