Lunch with Rosie at Indochine Restaurant

Lunch with Rosie at Indochine Restaurant

My motto with Rosie always is: let’s do it! If it doesn’t work out, we just turn around, drive back home and consider it an ‘off-day’. So far I can’t recall any ‘off-days’ which encourages my confidence tremendously to take her wherever I can.

Being invited as a Mystery Guest to a luxurious top class Asian restaurant is one of those things you just can’t refuse, isn’t it? Especially on a beautiful sunny Winters day like it was yesterday in Cape Town and in the Cape Wine lands. It is always such a treat to just drive about an hour from Cape Town and take in stunning mountains and scenery. You immediately feel on holiday. Around 12h30 we arrived at Indochine, located at the stunning Delaire Wine Estate on the Helshoogte pass between Stellenbosch and Franschhoek

Besides enjoying lunch, we had to be very critical on the food, staff, ambiance and in general needed to establish if we had a WOW experience. This all for training purposes. Having a background in the hospitality industry, I CAN be very critical but of course I don’t always feel like it. Yesterday we were ordered to be super critical.

Of course, I won’t share my findings in this blog post. This blog post serves to tell you a bit about the food and that Indochine welcomes children. They have clean, brand new Stokke baby chairs and the staff was super friendly towards Rosie. But maybe she demands that with all her smiling, not sure…There’s no proper nappie changing area but the Ladies Bathroom has space to do so (nice touch: Charlotte Rhys products in the bathroom…)

Beef Tartar Starter

Beef Tartar Starter

For Starters I choose the Beef Tartar which is often my preferred hoice when on offer. The plate was a treasure hunt of all kinds of interesting flavors. I absolutely loved it. I would just add a little bit more beef…

Tom Yam Goong, best soup ever!

Tom Yam Goong, best soup ever!

Since there was so much on the menu we wanted to sample, we choose a soup as well. My Tom Yam Goong was perfect, served in a copper casserole which matched the copper of our table. Nice touch: the lit was still on when the waiters brought out our soups. They removed them simultaneously (my friend choose the Beef Pho, delish as well).

Salmon Trout Main Course

Salmon Trout Main Course

My main course was delicious too, beautifully presented on a tile. The side dish of Cucumber/Pine Apple Salad complemented beautifully.

Desert!

Dessert!

Dessert was difficult to choose. We would have wanted to taste all of them. Of course I had to stick to my chocolate fix and choose the one with dark chocolate. The green tea/vanilla ice cream was unexpectedly delicious, loved the meringue as well as the fudge. GREAT dish!

Before we left we admired the beautiful reception hall with stunning flower arrangements and beautiful pieces of art.

Indochine is a great restaurant with wonderful caring and professional staff. We had a lovely time.
